In Spring Break of 2011, 5 Grade 12 students from Spectrum Community School, along with one of our teachers, Ms. Walsh, flew to the Yofoso Youth Center in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa to spend a week there and a week touring Zambia and Tanzinia. They had a life changing experience and were treated with such kindness and respect at the Center where they all worked together to paint the inside and outside of the youth center. After coming home, they, along with many, many other students, staff, and their friend and families, helped raise money for the Center to build a new wall that will allow them to have water to the center, and to plant a vegetable garden, grass, and flowers. The students at Yofoso crocheted over 50 bags that will also help raise money. It will also send several of the children to school who otherwise could not afford to go.
